For those of you who know me personally, you know how this may sound like I’ve gone crazy.
You know how “Politically” active and politically minded I am… For those of you who don’t know me personally you most likely didn’t know that about me at all. I try to keep my Blog and the emails I send out to my lists professional and business related and I rarely venture into the dangerous waters of politics or religion (both things that I am passionate about).
It just doesn’t make sense from a business standpoint to talk politics or religion because inevitably there will be about 50% or more of the people who are following me or on my lists who will disagree with what I have to say and I might therefore alienate them from possible business relationships…
Hopefully that is not the case with this post. I just had to get this off my chest…
It’s just that over the last week or so leading up to Independence Day, I have had these thought brewing in my mind and I haven’t really been able to articulate what was bothering me about “The 4th of July”. Then, in talking to a couple of my partners in a meeting all the pieces started to fall into place… So I figured I Would write this blog post to get it all out.
I’m saying that “I Hate the 4th of July” for 2 related reasons…
First, I HATE how the name “The 4th of July” has replaced the actual NAME of the Holiday – “Independence Day” – in the main stream of thought and conversation in the general public, media, schools etc… I mean think about it for a minute… Do we call “Valentines Day” “February the 14th”? “Christmas” “December the 25th”? How about “Halloween”, would it make sense to call it “October the 31st”?
Of course not. So why has this happened to Independence Day?
I don’t want to sound like a conspiracy theorist wacko but I know there has been a direct attack on the Freedom, Liberty, The Constitution, The Declaration of Independence etc. And I’ve been thinking over the last few days that it is not too far fetched to think that there has been a specific plan (By those who are seeking to overthrow our capitalist, free enterprise, and Constitutional form of Government) to change the name in the minds of the general population to “the 4th of July” as a way to distract people from the true meaning of the holiday that we are celebrating, “Independence Day”.
A day honoring perhaps the most important political and economic day in the history of the world. A day that those who are trying to take away the Freedoms and liberties that we have in our country need to have us forget about so that we don’t put up a fight as they continue to take away our Liberties…
A great way to get your mind off the real meaning is to change the name of the holiday to something meaningless, and then make it about fireworks and BBQs and eventually people will forget what it was really all about…
The other reason that I am writing this is because of what this type of intentional “Dumbing Down” of our culture means when it comes to the ability of the general population to stand up and fight for the rights that are being systematically stripped from us every day. If we as a people don’t understand these rights, how can we protect them?
This video is pretty funny, I don’t know how accurate it is… part of me HOPES that it is actually scripted because it is just sad how little people know about what Independence Day… Enjoy this clip from Jay Leno “Jay Walking” on his “Tonight Show”… Notice how little these people know about Independence day… Notice how many times they (Even Jay) say “The 4th of July” instead of “Independence Day”…
This is the type of stuff that just kills me! We laugh it off and think it’s just all in good fun, but it is a VERY serious matter if people actually know so little about what i consider to be one of the greatest and most important days in world history…
So anyway, hopefully I did not offend you, if I did I’m sorry but some things are true whether you believe them or understand them or not.
